I'm pissed. I was listing my Apex AD-600a DVD player on Ebay and Macrovision had it removed. Appearently since APEX messed up and left the 'loophole menu' which can be used to turn of Macrovision on the DVD player, I can't sell it because it infringes on their copyright.I didn't want to say it on the font page but now that you clicked... Those god dammed *censored*ers.There are 3 other DVD players with the same capibility on Ebay right now, And I've watched 12 or so get sold in the past month or two.
Well it's out, at long last, I'm not saying that this release has taken a long time, I was ready for an update shortly after Psyche was released to clean up some of the rough edges. I'm not going to write a review on Shrike since others have done a much better job than I'm capable of, but I am going to comment on my observations after using it as a workstation for a few days.Downloading:
With the release of Red Hat 9 I'm now using Evolution 1.2. With it's new filtering capabilities it can now be used as an effective client side SPAM filter. Here is a run through of how I set it up.The filters in Evolution 1.2 can run external scripts to filter the mail. I searched Google to see how people have used this, but didn't find much except for a few comments about it on the Ximian mailing list so I thought that I would write a mini howto.
I don't want to copy Jeremy Zawodny with his post about how much MySQL 4.0 rocks but I had to metion some of my experiences with it.The main thing about MySQL 4.0 that is changing my world is how much better it handles maintenance of FULLTEXT indexes.
The television coverage of the war has been stunning, that's telling you nothing new. But I think I'm currently watching the most facinating footage I've seen all week.SkyTV via Fox News is showing a standoff between the Marines and some unidentified Iraqi's at Umm Qasr. For the past hour the marines have been lying on the ground while there are a few shadowy people behind some cover 200 meters away.
I can hardly beleive that I went and did it. I thought I hated blogs, but as it turns out I just hate the name. They are freaking homepages, or web portals at best.If I feel so strongly aginst blogs then one has to be asking the question, why? Well I will give protal or blogging software, it's a lot easier than maintaining a webpage. Thank's GeekLog this is some spiffy software.
